Why artificial grass beats traditional turf for rooftops.

Rooftop Greenery

Green roofs are making a difference in cities all over the world. Green roofs offer shade, remove heat from the atmosphere, and decrease the roof surface and surrounding air temperatures. These rooftops are a wonderful way to expand square footage and support mental health by incorporating a green outdoor retreat in the concrete jungle. By going synthetic, you can expand the options for implementing a creative space in an otherwise boring location.

Advantages of Artificial Turf Rooftops

Installing artificial turf on a rooftop has numerous benefits. Here are just a few of our personal favorites:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic turf is exceptionally easy to keep clean and well-preserved.

Low Weight

When compared to organic grass, it poses no safety risks or hazards, such as root and water damage.

Supplies Insulation

Protects interiors of buildings against sweltering heat and may provide immunity to decomposition, mold, or mildew.

Reduced Maintenance

Synthetic turf if installed properly, will last for a very long time and require minimal maintenance.

Adds Value

Creates a quick getaway while in the midst of the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Pets and Kids

With artificial grass, your pets and kids will not be exposed to potentially dangerous weedkillers, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Create A One-Of-A-Kind Look

Artificial turf makes it easy to install turf where organic grass wouldn’t grow, and you have the ability to produce unique shapes, or even hang them on walls if you wish.

Which Fiber Type Should You Use?

There are several factors to consider when selecting artificial grass, not to mention what would be a good fit for a rooftop. Here are some essential elements to consider when shopping:

Nylon is a long-lasting fabric, however, outdoor spaces are susceptible to expansion/contraction and more likely to fade.

For indoor areas, we recommend nylon or scenarios with high commercial traffic or non-fill locations. All nylon non-infill Shaw products observe extensive flammability testing to comply with building codes.

We recommend an infill PE tape product for a commercial rooftop area.

PE tape is long-lasting without sacrificing performance; top-quality PE resins are resistant to fading and not vulnerable to expansion and contraction. Our Play-Safe collection offers exceptional results for this application.
